George Patterson

George W. "Bill" Patterson, the son of Leonia Hyatt Patterson and the late John Henry Patterson, was born in Clarksville, Ark., on Aug. 6, 1943, and died at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Bloomfield on Monday, Oct. 11, 2004, at the age of 61.

Mr. Patterson had lived in the Grayridge area most of his life. He was a retired carpenter and had served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Surviving are one son, Jason Patterson of Dexter; his mother, Leonia Patterson of Grayridge; five sisters, Ann P. Gray of Panama City, Fla., Sue Barnett of Essex, Glenda Hogan of Grayridge, Shirley Bowling of Bloomfield, Sharon Copeland of Clines Island; and one brother, David Gene Patterson of Orville, Calif.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Edward and Jimmie Dale Patterson on May 30, 1968.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Ronnie Ledbetter of Essex officiating.

Interment will follow in the Taylor Cemetery near Essex. Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.

The Stoddard County Veterans Honor Team will conduct full military rites.
