He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a self-employed painter and truck driver. He was first married to Mary Volpert.
On May 26, 1971, he was united in marriage to Wanda Simpson at Chaffee, and she survives of the home.
Survivors include his parents, John and Ethel Talley; one son, Steve Talley-Volpert, West Bend, Kan.; five daughters, Teresa Diamond of Chanute, Kan., Debbie Wisehart of Manhattan, Kan., Rebekah Gilmore of Ellisville, Ill., Jeanette Hodges of Manhattan, Kan., and Paula Cranford of Houston, Texas; 22 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Terry Talley of California and Eldon Talley of Bloomfield; five sisters, Deloris Tucker and Marie Cooper, both of Bloomfield; Melba Biri of Sikeston, Joyce Wells of Clio, Mich., and Elizabeth Williams of Louisville, Ky.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, Ill.
Graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at Gravel Hill Cemetery at Dexter.
