John Copeland, son of the late Jesse J. Copeland and Lana Peden Copeland, was born on June 27, 1912, at Westville, Okla., and died at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bloomfield on Nov. 1, 2004, at the age of 92.
Mr. Copeland was a resident of Bloomfield for the past two years, a self-employed lumberjack, and was of the Baptist faith.
He was united in marriage to Vesta Mills at Harrison, Ark. Mrs. Copeland preceded him in death on June 14, 1999.
Survivors include four sons, Jesse L. Copeland of Jacksonville, Fla., Johnnie Earl Copeland and James C. Copeland, both of Harrison, Ark., and Alton Copeland of Dexter; three daughters, Hazle M. Pearson of Long Beach, Calif., Wilma Copeland and Dorthy McNair, both of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Maudie McBride; one brother, Raymond Copeland; two sisters, Nellie Wishon and Maudie McTear.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2004, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kevin Chenoweth officiating.
Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
