Thomas Jefferson Monroe, son of the late Lawrence and Claudine Morse Monroe, was born at Bloomfield on Nov. 8, 1946, and died at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at the age of 58.

Mr. Monroe had spent most of his life in the Bloomfield community. He was a member of the Dexter Elks Lodge #2439 and a Charter Member of the Dexter Eagles Club.

On June 24, 1989, he was married to Shelby Green.

Survivors include his wife, Shelby Monroe of the home in Bloomfield; one step-daughter, Shelia Watson of Bloomfield; one brother, Will Monroe of Dexter; one sister, Audrey Jackson of Bloomfield; two step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Elk services will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, 2004, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Bob Wiggins officiating.

Interment will follow in the Walker Cemetery.
