Bernie power outage

Friday, November 19, 2004

About 1,700 AmerenUE customers were left without power temporarily Thursday afternoon after an accident took out a guide pole on Highway 25 near Route D, just north of Bernie. The accident occurred when a Dodge Ram driven by 19-year-old Josh Kimbrel of Dexter was heading northbound. It hyrdoplaned on the wet pavement, ran off the road and struck the pole, disconnecting it from the power lines across the road. Power was restored relatively quickly to the customers in Bernie, Parma and other towns. There were no injuries in the accident, but traffic on 25 was temporarily delayed during the after-work rush.
