Lelan J. "Peewee" Pointer

Lelan J. "Peewee" Pointer, a resident of Swartz Creek, Mich., and formerly of Bernie, son of the late Ginger Pointer and Jewel Pointer was born at Bernie on May 16, 1931, and died in the University Hospital at Tampa, Fla., on Nov. 17, 2004, at the age of 73.

He was employed at General Motors in Flint, Mich., as a supervisor until his retirement.

Lelan was united in marriage to the former Helen M. Tuggle in Piggott, Ark. There were three children born to this union.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ginger Pointer, and his mother, Jewell Pointer; one brother, Don Pointer; and one granddaughter, Teresa Liebengood.

Lelan is survived by his wife, Helen Pointer of the home in Swartz Creek, Mich. He is also survived by one son, Steve Pointer, of Tampa, Fla.; two daughters, Brenda Liebengood and Trisha Pointer, both of the home; one brother, Myrl Pointer of Flint, Texas; one sister, Willetta Klineschmidt of Festus; two grandchildren, Kirk Liebengood, stationed in Iraq with the U.S. Army, and Krista Empie of Mason, Mich.; and two great-grandchildren, Michael Empie and Jacy Empie.

Memorial services will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge Morning Star #556 at 11 a.m. on Dec. 10, 2004, in the Masonic Lodge in Swartz Creek, Mich. Terry Oliver will do the spiritual service with Betty Allison Oliver singing and Gary Seaman the eulogy.

Local arrangements are being made by Watkins Funeral Home of Dexter.
