He was an instrument repair technician at Alton Box Board. He was a member of the Alton V.F.W. #1308 , the D.A.V. and the Moose Lodge #2592. He was an veteran of World War II and received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Marie Layton Patton; two daughters, Audrey Joyce Ambrose and Patty Faye, both of Bunker Hill; two sons, Lonnie Wayne Patton of Bunker Hill and Ronnie Lane Patton of Plainview, Ill.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Freda (Sis) Menley of Chaffee; and one brother, Troy Patton of Glen Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Micheal David Patton; one sister, Naomi Faye Angel; and one brother, Paul Patton.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at Landers Funeral Home in Bunker Hill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Landers Funeral Home in Bunker Hill with Rev. LeRoy Fahnestock officiating.
Interment will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens at Bethalto.
