Lynn Collins

Lynn Collins, son of the late Robert Collins and Ada Nevels Collins was born on February 25, 1935 at Advance and died on Monday, December 27, 2004 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff at the age of 69.

Mr. Collins was a former employee with Oak View Construction, a former resident of Granite City, Ill., and was currently residing in Essex.

He was first united in marriage to Betty Scarborough at Granite City, Ill., in 1963. Mrs. Collins preceded him in death on June 29, 1996. He then married Brenda Carter on July 26, 1997 at Anna. Ill. Mrs. Collins survives of the home in Essex.

Besides his wife survivors include five sons, Jeff Collins of Houston, Texas, Kenneth Collins, of Jacksonville, Fla., Raymond Stuart, of Granite City, Ill., Travis Collins, of Orlando, Fla., and Shane Sweet, of Anna, Ill; by nine daughters, Linda Zimmerman, of Peoria, Ill., Laura Jean Bartow, of Hahira, Ga., Kathy Hart, of St. Louis, Vickie Walton, of Edwardsville, Ill., Nita Stubbs, of Phoenix, Ariz., Deanna Childers and Sue Belcher, both of Dexter, Jeannie McCord, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., and Shanna Kristoff, of Anna, Ill; by two sisters, Dorothy Dickerson, of Grassy and Helen Collins, of Cahokia, Ill; also by 35 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Besides his first wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernis and Clarence Collins and by one sister, Norma Revelle.

Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 28. On Wednesday, December 29, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., visitation will be held in the Word of Life Tabernacle Church in Granite City, Ill. Funeral Services will follow on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at 1 p.m., in the Word of Life Tabernacle Church with Rev. Henry Crippen officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Belleville, Ill.
