Alicia M. Swims of Dexter has been awarded the President's Scholarship, the Missouri Leadership Award and the President's Plus Scholarship to attend Southeast Missouri State University for the 2005-2006 academic year.

Swims will be a 2005 graduate of Dexter High School. She is the daughter of Billy and Judy Swims of Dexter and plans to major in elementary education.

The President's Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who have a 24 or higher composite ACT score (SAT score of 1110) and a 3.5 high school grade point average on a 4.0 scale or rank in the top 20 percent of their class; a 23 or higher composite ACT (SAT score of 1070) and rank in the top 10 percent of their class; or a 21 or higher composite ACT score (SAT score of 990) and are the class valedictorian. The scholarship is valued at $2,000 per academic year.

The President's Plus Scholarship is awarded to students who have a 26 or higher composite ACT score and a 3.5 high school grade point average on a 4.0 scale or rank in the top 20 percent of their class. The scholarship is valued at $2,500 annually.

Both the President's and the President's Plus scholarships are renewable three additional academic years after initial award year for a maximum of four consecutive years. To renew the recipient must maintain a 3.5 cumulative grade point average in courses taken at Southeast and complete a minimum of 30 credit hours of course work per academic year at Southeast. Southeast summer hours, taken in the same academic year, may be used to meet renewal criteria.

The Missouri Leadership Award is a one-year award of $1,000 to be applied toward residence hall fees, and designed for Missouri students who have demonstrated leadership, scholarship and involvement. Students receiving the scholarship must have achieved a 3.0 grade point average.
