Mayola Gibson

Mayola Gibson, the daughter of the late Richard and Effie Adeline Jeris McCamish, was born in Bernie on Feb. 25, 1928, and died at the Charlson Methodist Hospital in Dallas, Texas, on Dec. 29, 2004, at the age of 76.

She was a former resident of Dexter before moving to St. Louis in 1969; she then moved to Desoto, Texas, in 1978, until her passing. She attended the Assembly of God Church in Mesquite, Texas, before she became ill.

On Oct. 22, 1944, she was united in marriage to Charles Gibson in St. Louis, To this union three children were born.

Surviving are her husband, Charles Gibson of Desoto, Texas; her children, Michael Gibson of Knoxville, Tenn., Pamela Gibson of Mesquite, Texas, and Mark Gibson of St. Louis; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Velva Robisky of Dallas, Texas, Evelyn Robinson of Jackson, and Martha Duffie-Reynolds of Bernie.

She was preceded in death other than by her parents one sister, Melba Thurson and one brother, James Richard McCamish.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery with Martha Duffie-Reynolds, funeral director, and Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
