James Garner Avery, son of the late Oscar and Beverly Virgo Avery, was born at St. Louis on June 23, 1945, and died at his home in Dudley on Dec. 30, 2004, at the age of 59.

Mr. Avery had been a resident of Dudley the past three years and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. On July 29, 1981, he was married to Charlotte Prince.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Avery of the home in Dudley; one son, James G. Avery, Jr. of the U.S. Marines stationed in Iraq; four sisters, Virginia Meadows and Johnny Rachow, both of St. Louis, Kathy Ulicne of Mansfield, Ohio, and Annie Peterson of Kelso, Minn.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister.

Visitation was held at 1 p.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Graveside rites were then conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2005, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.

Interment followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
