Charles Vincent "Benny" Medcalf, Sr., son of the late Elmer Eugene, Sr. and Lura Mae Medcalf, was born in Bloomfield March 7, 1916, and died Dec. 25, 2004, at 7:05 p.m. after spending a wonderful Christmas day with family. He was 88 years of age.
He lived in Bloomfield, Dexter and Cape Girardeau most of his life before moving to Park Hills and more recently to Cabool with his wife to be closer to family.
Surviving are his wife, June Huffman Medcalf of Cabool; a son, Charles Vincent Medcalf, Jr. of West Covina, Calif.; a daughter, Sharon Ward of Oceanside, Calif.; a sister, Jewell Langdon; and niece, Sara Taylor of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two granddaughters, Nicole Stalmaker and Shannon Ward of San Francisco, Calif.; four step-grandchildren, Lorrie Ebert, Jim Baker, John Tilley, and Judy Tilley and their families; and many other nieces and nephew.
His parents and one brother Elmer Eugene Medcalf, Jr. preceded him in death.
Benny accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior 12 years ago and was a member of Cabool Assembly of God Church. Benny donated his body to St. Louis University and a memorial service was held Jan. 1, 2005, at Cabool Assembly of God Church with Rev. Harvey Hoffman and Rev. Conway Huffman officiating.
The family has requested that memorials may be made to the church for missions.
