Harold Alfred "Smokey" Heilman, son of the late Alfred and Bernice Clements Heilman, was born at St. Louis on Jan. 13, 1929, and died at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at the age of 76.
Smokey was a resident of Bloomfield and was retired from the Bloomfield School District. He was of the Baptist faith and was affiliated with the St. Joe General Baptist Church in Idalia.
On Sept. 27, 1975, he was married to Shannon Long, and they were foster parents of 15 children between 1975-1983.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Heilman of the home in Bloomfield; two sons, Phillip Heilman of Odessa, Texas, and Keith Heilman of St. Louis; two daughters, Sandie Davidson of Odessa, Texas, and Patricia Panneri of Alpharetta, Ga.; one brother, Richard Heilman of Huntsville, Ala.; one step-brother, Penrod Piel; one step-sister, Mary Piel; four grandsons.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty Lou; his father; his mother; his step-mother; and one sister.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Dan Sitze officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bluff Cemetery at Idalia.
