Thera Vivian McCarroll Jones, 94, of DeSoto died at 10:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005.

She was born Aug. 8, 1910, at Leora to Moody Blake and Lula Marie McClendon McCarroll. She married Walter Jones on Feb. 18, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1966. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.

Survivors include one son Dr. Roger Jones of Carbondale, Ill.; three daughters, Carol Anne Jones of Port Charlotte, Fla., Lula Mae Martin of Belleville, Ill., and Doris Faye Butler of Logan, Ill.; one step-son, Walter Jones of Oak Forest, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; and two step-great-granddaughters.

She was a member of DeSoto First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, DeSoto and Shrine of Carbondale.

Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at the Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale, Ill.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2005, at DeSoto First Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Hottensen officiating.

Interment followed at DeSoto Cemetery.
