Dortha Burkhart

Dortha Ellen Burkhart, daughter of the late Robert Issac Bennett and Suzy Tuttle Bennett, was born on July 5, 1930, at Bernie and died in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter on Friday, Jan. 27, 2005, at the age of 74.

Mrs. Burkhart was a former bookkeeper for Mercantile Bank in St. Louis and a resident of St. Louis.

She was united in marriage to John Burkhart, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 6, 1985.

Survivors include three brothers, James Charles Bennett of Dexter, George William Bennett of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Donald Eugene Bennett of Guatemala.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three half-brothers, Leo Bennett, Norman Bennett, and Robert Bennett; one sister, Doris Bennett; and two half-sisters, Mary Jane Brown and Mildred Utsler.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ed Stoner officiating.

Interment was at the Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Louis.
