Mr. Hayes was a retired farmer and a resident of Bernie.
He was united in marriage to Iva Mae Ray in February of 1930 at Bragg City. Mrs. Hayes preceded him in death on April 25, 1989.
Survivors include three sons, Shirrel D. Hayes of Paducah, Ky., Denny L. Hayes of Lake of the Ozarks, and James Ray Hayes of Malden; one daughter, Emma Jean Foust of Poplar Bluf; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Otis Hayes, Riley Hayes, Bill Hayes and Parker Hayes; and one sister, Ada Pitman.
Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie with Rev. Calvin Buhler officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
