Nannette Jibben

Tuesday, February 15, 2005

Miss Lucy Nannette Jibben, daughter of Dr. Robert and Noemy Jibben, was born on Jan. 26, 1955, and died Feb. 8, 2005, at her home in Denton, Texas, after a long illness.

Nannette graduated from Dexter High School in 1973. She attended SMS University, graduating with a B.S. degree in Kinesiology. She also graduated with an M.S. degree in Sport's Psychology from N.W. Texas University. Nan then joined the staff of Denton State School, as a qualified Mental Retardation professional, where she worked until her death, for 23 years. She was dedicated to her work and especially to her "kids", as she fondly referred to her students there.

She is survived by her parents at their home in Dexter; two brothers, John Jibben and his daughter, Amelia Marie Jibben, and Dr. Bobby J. Jibben and sister-in-law Laurie; one sister, Cecilia Marie Wagoner and brother-in-law Shane Wagoner and their two children, Lisa Marie and Ben; three aunts, Joyce Wasson of Joplin, Dr. Betty Gomez-Lance of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Eliett Gomez Castillo of San Jose, Costa Rica, and their families, many cousins; other relatives; and dear friends.

Nannette's memory will live with all those whose life she touched, because she was a gracious, impeccably polite and compassionate Christian woman.

Memorials may be given to the children of special education, either gifted or handicapped attending Dexter Schools or to the Cotton Boll Girl Scouts organization.

Her funeral was held in Denton, Texas on Feb. 11.

A graveside service by family and close friends will be held at Caroline Dowdy Cemetery.
