He was a resident of Dexter and was retired from the Dexter Police Department as a dispatcher. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Dexter, the Eagles and the American Legion. He had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
On May 7, 1955, he was married to Christine Riddle in St. Louis.
Surviving are his wife, Christine Schacherbauer of Dexter; one son, Phillip Schacherbauer of Ava; two daughters, Carol Gilbow and Linda Vaughn, both of Dexter; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harry Schacherbauer of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Herschel and Harold Schacherbauer; and two sisters, Helen Furlong and Henrietta Wyman.
Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Bob Wiggins of Dexter officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bluff Cemetery near Idalia with full military honors by Stoddard County Veterans Honor Team.
Watkins & Sons Funeral Services of Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
