Ulah "Doody" Pitts, the daughter of the late Lester and Golda Fansler Newton, was born in Salcedo on Sept. 6, 1915, and died at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at the age of 89.

She was a resident of Morehouse until 1941 before moving to Oregon for 30 years. She then moved back to Morehouse in 1972 where she was a member of the Rauch-Spence Memorial Methodist Baptist Church.

In 1941 she was married to William Lewis Pitts. He preceded her in death in January of 1972.

Surviving are five nephews and five nieces.

Visitation was held after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse.

Graveside funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2005, in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston with Rev. Marty Blakey of Chaffee officiating.

Interment followed in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Morehouse in charge of arrangements.
