Agnes Mae Brown Hooks, daughter of Samuel Keller and Myrtie Cordelia Embry, was born Oct. 30, 1918, in Dexter and died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at the age of 86.
She was first married to Clyde E. Brown on Sept. 7, 1941, in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death in October 1953. She then married Joe Hooks in 1954 at Dexter, and he preceded her in death in 1966.
She had been in nursing in younger years and then worked at Brown Shoe Factory. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Malden.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Sue Knuckles and Sandra Lou Laveen, both of Malden; two sons, Richard Brown of Bernie and Ronald Brown of Malden; one sister, Geraldine Finch of Beloit, Wis.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Debora marie Brown; five brothers, Cecil Keller, Orvell Keller, Dawsey Keller, Larue Keller and Everett Keller; and one sister, Della Dale.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Rev. Leroy Young, Rev. A.D. Hill and Rev. Larry Keltner officiating.
Interment will follow in Bernie Cemetery.
