On Dec. 27, 1941, he was united in marriage to Sarah Margaret Shelby at Parma, and she preceded him in death on March 20, 1984.
He attended Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church in Fisk.
Survivors include four sons, Art Buttrey of Broseley, Dale Buttrey of Fisk, Larry Buttrey of Broseley, and Garry Buttrey of Fisk; two brothers, Ed Buttrey of Fisk and John Buttrey of Orlando, Fla.; six sisters, Pat Atwill of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Alice Crow of Parma, Betty Wagoner of Catron, Ivanell Blatchley of Denver, Colo., Nancy Buttrey of Memphis, Tenn., and Carolyn Shelton of Malden; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Hampton.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden with Rev. Steve Winberry officiating.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
