Essye Mae Cato

Essye Mae Cato, the daughter of the late Cassie Jack and Murl Stroup Watson, was born in Kinder on Aug. 6, 1931, and died at the St. Louis University Hospital on Friday, March 4, 2005, at the age of 73.

She had lived in the Kinder area until moving to St. Louis in 1952. She was a homemaker but had worked as a certified nurse's aid for eight years. She was a member of the Church of God and the Mother's Club.

On Nov. 6, 1948, she was married to James Cato in Bloomfield.

She is survived by her husband, James Cato of St. Louis; two sons, James Dale Cato of St. Louis and Larry Gale Cato of Cibolo, Texas; four daughters, Beverly Engler, Barbara Seaton, LeDeana Stahl and LeDonna Cato, all of St. Louis; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Almedia Eichhorn of Pevely.

She was preceded in death by one grandson.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Puxico with Bro. Gary Cooper of Advance officiating.

Interment followed in the Brush Creek Cemetery near Arab with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
