Beulah Mable Baker

Beulah Mable Baker, the daughter of the late James Wesley and Hydra Greer Baker, was born in Essex on Oct. 16, 1906, and died at the Carlinville Area Hospital in Carlinville, Ill., on Friday, March 4, 2005, at the age of 98.

She had lived in the Essex area until moving to Carlinville, Ill., in 1950. She was a homemaker and a member of the Methodist Church.

On March 7, 1931, she was married to Melvin Baker, and he preceded her in death in 1952.

She is survived by her sister, Ollie Taylor of Virden, Ill.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert Darby, James Patrick and Samuel F. Darby; and four sisters, Iva Greer, Elizabeth London, Mary Dell Grim, and Bertha Roberts.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at the Essex Cemetery with Bro. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Services of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
