Ruby Marie Slinkard, 75, died Monday, March 7, 2005, at her home in Apache Junction, Ariz. She was born Aug. 18, 1929, in Saco to Roy F. Whitener and Carrie Settle Whitener.
She married Loy Slinkard on Nov. 23, 1946, in Piggott, Ark. They resided in Missouri until they permanently moved to Arizona in 2000.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She enjoyed quilting and doing crafts and participated in her hobby at the Venture Ironwood Park Resort starting in 1995. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She loved to travel. She and Loy traveled to all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. This past summer was their third trip to Alaska.
She is survived by her husband, Loy; a daughter, Reva of Dayton, Md.; three sons, Glen of Chandler, Ariz., Gene of Bernie; and Gale of Little Rock, Ark.; three brothers, Ray Whitener of Apache Junction, Ariz., Cecil Whitener of St. Louis, and Roscoe Whitener of Imperial; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Dale Loy Slinkard; and three brothers, Robert, Cleo and Dale Whitener.
