Michael R. Smith, son of Marvin E. Smith and Marilynnn Smith of Dexter, was born Aug. 7, 1952, at St. Louis and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Friday, March 18, 2005, at the age of 52.
Mr. Smith was a self-employed cabinet maker and carpenter and a resident of Dexter.
He was united in marriage to Debbie Budreau in 1974 at St. Louis. Mrs. Smith preceded him in death on Aug. 16, 1993.
Besides his parents, Marvin and Marilynn Smith of Dexter, other survivors include one son, Christopher Michael Smith of St. Louis; one daughter, Jennifer Gomes of Fort Polk, La.; one grandson, Gavin Michael Gomes of Fort Polk, La.; two brothers, Kenneth Wayne Smith of Jacksonville, N.C., and Stevin Alan Smith of Norman, Okla.; and one sister, Kathleen Ferguson of Goose Creek, S.C.
Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, March 21, 2005, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Dr. Ron Wilcoxson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Dexter, officiating.
Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery.
