Coretha Jean Waltrip

Coretha Jean Waltrip, daughter of the late Travis Vance and Ofa Cobb Vance, was born on July 16, 1940 at Hayti and died at the Delta Medical Center in Sikeston on March 25, 2005 at the age of 64.

Mrs. Waltrip was of the General Baptist Faith, a very special wife, mother and nanny.

She was united in marriage to Wayne Edward Waltrip on March 6, 1964 at Elgin, Ill. Mr. Waltrip survives of the home at Bernie.

Besides her husband, survivors include two daughters, Connie Marie Johnson, of Dexter and Darla Kaye Whitehead, of Bernie; by one step-daughter, Lisa Gaye Crosier, of Charleston; by one brother, Jerry Vance, of Hampshire, Ill.; by one sister, Helen McGowan, of Bernie; by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Lee Anthony and by one sister, Hilda Smith.

Visitation will be at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie fro 5-8 p.m., Sunday, March 27, 2005. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2005 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Bernie. Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
