Austin Pounds, son of Phil Pounds and Joy Thurman Dowell, was born at Poplar Bluff on March 9, 1989, and died near Brownwood on Monday, March 28, 2005, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident.

Mr. Pounds had spent all his life in Bloomfield. He was a sophomore at Bloomfield High School, a member of the Bloomfield Wildcats baseball team, a member of FBLA, Beta Club, Student Council and a class officer.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Phil and Sheila Pounds of Dexter; his mother and step-father, Joy and Matt Dowell of Bloomfield; two brothers, Zach Pounds and Evan Dowell, both of Bloomfield; two step-brothers, Jeremy Snider and Jake Cox, both of Dexter; two step-sisters, Kimberly and Savannah Snider, both of Dexter; his maternal grandparents, Gene Thurman of Clinton and Mary Thurman of Bloomfield; and his maternal great-grandmother, Beauton Thurman of Harviell.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield.

Interment will follow in the North Antioch Cemetery.
