W.J. "Dub" Crutcher

Dub Crutcher, son of the late John Loyd Crutcher and Eliza Shobe Crutcher, was born Sept. 4, 1915, at Essex and died in the Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter on Sunday, April 3, 2005, at the age of 89.

Mr. Crutcher was a self-employed real estate appraiser, a member of the Essex United Methodist Church, a member of the State Board of Conservation, Sikeston Chamber of Commerce, and a member of Ducks Unlimited.

He was united in marriage to Helen Esther Corlew on Sept. 29, 1933, at Sikeston. Mrs. Crutcher preceded him in death on Oct. 31, 1995.

Survivors include two daughters, Wilma Ann Cox of Syracuse, Ind., and Helen June McGhee of Indianapolis, Ind.; one brother, Davy Crutcher of Dexter; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Edna Brannock, Mary Corlew, Daisy Worley, Eva Blunt, and Johnie Silliman.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Rev. Ernie Rogers officiating.

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church in Essex or Stoddard County Association for Retarded Citizens in Dexter.
