Archie Merrell Duley

Archie Merrell Duley, son of the late Archie D. and Lucy L. Blevins Duley, was born in Dexter on Feb. 18, 1918, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare facility in Dexter on Sunday, April 3, 2005, at the age of 87.

Mr. Duley had been a residen tof Dexter most of his life. He was a self-employed carpenter and attended the General Baptist Church.

On July 9, 1938, he was married to Lucille H. Stickles in Fisk, and she preceded him in death on July 5, 1998.

Surviving are two sons, Archie M. Duley, Jr. of Orlando, Fla., and Michael D. Duley, Sr. of Bloomfield; one daughter, Marlyn Rae Neely of Steubenville, Ohio; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence Duley of Poplar Bluff and Ray Duley of Bogalusa, La.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter with Dean Williams officiating and assisted by Rev. Rick Roberts of Essex.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
