Mr. Lane was a member of the Trotter General Baptist Church near Essex, a retired farmer, a former member of the Masonic Lodge, a former resident of Essex and a resident of Dexter.
He was first united in marriage to Violetta Warren on October 17, 1937 at Bloomfield. Mrs. Lane preceded him in death on April 16, 1992. He then married Lillie Pick Duggins on February 5, 1999 at Cape Girardeau. Mrs. Lane survives of the home at Dexter.
Besides his wife survivors include two sons ; James Lane of Flint, MI and Michael Lane of St. Louis, MO; one step -son, Darrol Peck of Jasper, AL; one foster son, Charles Chadwell of Hot Springs, AR ; by one step daughter, Judy Wilkison of Dexter; by six grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren, twelve great -grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Besides his first wife and parents he was preceded in death by four brothers ; Harold Lane, George Lane, Eugene Lane and Truman Lane and by two sisters; Thelma Frye and Theta Welch.
Friends may call at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday April 24, 2005. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2005 in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Lane and Dr. Vyron Vount officiating. Interment will follow in the Taylor Cemetery near Essex.
