Alberta Mae Hayes

Alberta Mae Hayes, the daughter of the late Charles Clinton and Lavena Ray Nation Thomas, was born in Broseley on Aug. 17, 1921, and died at Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on May 2, 2005, at the age of 83.

Mrs. Hayes had lived in Dudley most of her life and was a member of the Dudley Community Church.

On Nov. 12, 1938, she was married to Raymond "Jockey" Hayes in Dudley. Mr. Hayes preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 1996.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Dale Hayes and Donald Ray Hayes, both of Dudley; one daughter, Faye Bolster of Dudley; two sisters, Mary Hanell of Flint, Mich., and Ruby Morgan of Granite City, Ill.; her brother-in-law, Carl E. Hayes of Gastonia, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Ann Williamson on Jan. 16, 2002.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Donald Morgan of Dudley officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
