Amy Barnes, the daughter of the late Charles and Amy Ann Dawson, was born in Quitman, Ark., on April 27, 1914, and died at her home in Dexter on May 1, 2005, at the age of 91.

Mrs. Barnes had lived in Sikeston until moving to Dexter in 1979. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

On April 22, 1935, she was married to Alvin Barnes. He preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1995.

Surviving are two sons, Wesley Barnes of Dexter and David Barnes of Houston, Texas; four daughters, Ruby Neal of Dexter, Shirley Bennett of Houston, Texas, Doris Baessler of St. Louis, and Linda Kizer of Lawrence, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, George Dawson of Clarksville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Roy Gene Barnes; and one daughter, Juanita Smith.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. H. Worth of Essex officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
