Elnora E. Sawyer

Elnora Elaine Sawyer, daughter of the late Hugh and Sadie Allen Hester, was born in Caruthersville on March 1, 1924, and died at Malden Nursing and Rehab in Malden on Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at the age of 81.

Mrs. Sawyer was a housewife and had lived in Caruthersville until 1955 when she moved to Dexter.

On March 23, 1942, she was married to Cellar Sawyer at Caruthersville. He preceded her in death on Feb.. 19, 1975.

Surviving are one son, Danny Sawyer of Dexter; four daughters, Anita Wyatt of Dexter, Barbara Rushin of Providence, Ky., Ann Henson of Festus, and Darlia Owens of Parma; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pearl Cahow of Dexter.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Elaine Scowden who died August 6, 2003.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Rev. John Ruddick of Dexter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hagy Cemetery in Dexter with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
