Mr. Hofmann had been a resident of the Shoals since 1952 and was a former resident of Detroit, Mich. He served with the First Marine Division during World War II inthe South Pacific. He attended Delta State on a football scholarship and briefly played professional football in Detroit.
Surviving are two sons, Michael T. Hofmann of Killen, Ala., and Timothy L. Hofmann of Decatur, Ala.; one daughter, Shaun H. Grove of Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Jan. 7, 2005, and one brother, Jim Hofmann.
Visitation was held from 6-7 p.m. Monday, June 6, 2005, at the Elkins Funeral Home in Florence, Ala.
Funeral services were conducted at 7 p.m. in the funeral home with Bro. Henry Milton of Faith Tabernacle officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, in the Parma Cemetery.
