James L. Culverhouse, the son of the late Daniel Price and Jessie Lee Bass Culverhouse, was born in Shreveport, La., on Jan. 6, 1936, and died at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility in Dexter on June 20, 2005, at the age of 69.
Mr. Culverhouse had lived in Mendin, La., most of his life and had lived in Dexter the past three years. He was a truck driver for Heavy Duty Trucks. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Athens, La., and attended the Lighthouse Christian Center in Dexter.
On May 29, 1992, he was married to Shirley Boyles in Piggott, Ark.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley J. Culverhouse of Dexter; three sons, Greg Culverhouse of Shreveport, La., Dale Cobb and Lonnie Cobb both of Dexter; one daughter, Lynn Walters of Monroe, La.; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Danny Culverhouse of Benton, La., Cledie Culverhouse of Sibley, La.; five sisters, Eunice Carter and Evelyn Williams both of Bossier City, La., Lucille Hunter of Saratoga, Texas, Amelia Ingrum of Homer, La., and Irene Frost of West Monroe, La.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, from 5-8 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at 10 a.m. in the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home of Dexter with Pastor John Ruddick of Dexter officiating.
