Bertha Violet Sapp

Bertha Violet Wood Henely Sapp, daughter of the late William and Martha Stenson Mills, was born in Bertrand on Aug. 30, 1911, and died at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter on Saturday, June 18, 2005, at the age of 93.

Mrs. Sapp had lived in Risco and Parma for many years before moving to Bernie four years ago. She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church.

She was first married to Preston Wood, then to James Henely, and on Feb. 7, 1973, she was married to Mack Junior Sapp in Sikeston. She was preceded in death by all three husbands.

Surviving are two sons, Bill Wood of Gary, Ind., and Harold Wood of Russellville, Ark.; five daughters, Maxine Tharp of Parma, Bonnie McDonald of Malden, Connie Johnson of East Prairie, Joyce Yarbro of Kennett, and Mary Palmer of Bernie; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Ernest Buckett of Malden officiating.

Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
