Harold Aarant

Harold A. Aarant, son of the late Minor Aarant and Anne Long Aarant, was born June 29, 1920, in Chidister, Ark., and died on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, in the Missouri Southern Healthcare at Dexter at the age of 84.

Mr. Aarant was a member of First General Baptist Church in Dexter, a retired truck driver for Hart Transportation, worked for Bud Shell Ford in Dexter, and a resident of Dexter.

He was united in marriage to Joan Knight on May 22, 1944, at Piggott, Ark. Mrs. Aarant survives of the home in Dexter.

Besides his wife, survivors include one son, Loyd Aarant of Wappapello; two daughters, Sandra Kay McGovern of Nason, Ill., and Melana Allen of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; one brother, Leonard Aarant of New Madrid; one sister, Alice Carney of Springfield; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2005, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating.

Interment will follow in the Old Bethel Cemetery.
