Mr. Adkins had been a resident of Morehouse since 1923 and was a retired farmer. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
On Nov. 20, 1942, he was married to Esther Jewell McGuirt in Grayridge. She preceded him in death on July 28, 2002.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Polly Adkins of Portageville; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Freddie Copeland of Lilbourn; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Opal Jackson of Norco, Calif.; several nieces and nephews. Other relatives and friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Verlin Adkins.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Morehouse.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 25, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Morehouse with Rev. Bryan Smith of New Madrid officiating.
Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Morehouse in charge of arrangements.
