Lee Daniel DeJournett, son of the late Virgil DeJournett and Mary England DeJournett, was born on Feb. 9, 1927, at Essex and died in the Crowley Ridge Care Center at Dexter on Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at the age of 78.

Mr. DeJournett was a member of the South Pleasant Valley General Baptist Church near Essex, a self-employed mechanic in Essex, a veteran of the Unites States Army and a resident of Essex.

He was united in marriage to Jean Williamson on July 11, 1946, at Essex. Mrs. DeJournett survives of the home in Essex.

Besides his wife, survivors include three sons, Terry DeJournett of Olive Branch, Miss., David DeJournett of Essex and Larry DeJournett of Memphis, Tenn.; and one grandchild.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, J.F. DeJournett.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2005, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2005, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Ledbetter and Rev. Sam Brotherton officiating.

Interment will follow in the Triplett Cemetery near Essex.
