Cecil A. "Jake" McGowen, son of the late William Andrew and Mezella Jane Craft McGowen, was born in Dudley on Feb. 25, 1931, and died at his home in Puxico on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, at the age of 74.

Mr. McGowen had been a resident of the Puxico area all his life. He was a member of the Hobbs Chapel Church near Puxico.

On Feb. 24, 1951, he was married to Helen Maxine Clark in Clay County, Ark. His wife preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 1999.

Surviving are one son, Bobby Dean McGowen of Puxico; one granddaughter; one grandson; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Lewis, Thomas, Everett, Elvis, Elmer and Hubert McGowen; two sisters, Lila Midgett and Ethel Hobbs.

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico with Rev. Amos Dees of Wappapello officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hobbs Chapel Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.
