James Alfred Medley, a resident of Broseley, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
He had lived at Broseley most of his life and graduated from Broseley High School. He was a member of the Fisk General Baptist Church since 2002 where he served as deacon and Sunday School teacher. He had formerly been a member of Little Vine General Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 45 years, Sunday School Superintendent for 30 years, and also taught Sunday School classes for several years.
He had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War three years and served in the National Guard for four years. He was a member of Pipefitters Union #562. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge at Puxico.
On oct. 17, 1948, he was united in marriage to Julia Mae Allen in Oklahoma City, Okla., and she survives.
Survivors include one son, James Medley of Bonne Terre; a daughter, Mariam Denette Kinworth of Decatur, Ala.; one sister, Cherline Roberts of Florissant; two grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Dovie Medley.
Visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. Sept. 3, 2005, at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk with Rev. Greg Whittle and Rev. Jim Sanders officiating.
Interment will follow in Brown Chapel Cemetery.
