Virdie May Shaver

Virdie May Shaver, daughter of the late Hiram Franklin McCanless and Lucinda Emerson McCanless, was born on Sept. 1, 1913, at Savannah, Tenn., and died in the Beverly Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Dexter on Sept. 2, 2005, at the age of 92.

Mrs. Shaver was a member of First General Baptist church in Dexter, a licensed practical nurse working in government and a resident of Dexter.

She was first united in marriage to Leonard Shaver on Jan. 2, 1930. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1972. She then married Roy Shaver. He also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Albert Shaver of Dexter; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by four sons, Owen Junior Shaver, John Hoyet Shaver, Ronnie K. Shaver and an unnamed infant; one daughter, Velda May Shaver; three brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Graveside services erw conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, at the Rock Hill Cemetery near Puxico with Rev. Tom McCanless officiating.
