Roy Vernon Hastings

Roy Vernon Hastings, the son of the late Sherdan and Amy Huback Hastings, was born in Poplar Bluff on July 22, 1928, and died at the John Cochran V.A. Medical Center in St. Louis on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at the age of 77.

He had lived in St. Louis for many years and moved to Bell City15 years ago. Mr. Hastings was a retired custodian and maintenance worker with the St. Louis County Library. He attended the Apostolic Church of God and had served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.

On June 15, 1967, he was married to Virginia Hurley in St. Louis.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Hastings of Bell City; three sons, Ricky Hastings of Bell City, Steven Hastings of Villa Ridge, and Tony Hastings of St. Louis; one daughter, Tina Stone of Washington; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin Hastings.

Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with Bro. John Hurley of Canalou officiating.

Interment will follow at a later date in the Rombauer Cemetery in Rombauer.

Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
