Billy Joe Richard, the son of the late John W. and Eva Duren Richard, was born in Stoddard County on Jan. 16, 1937, and died at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau on Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, at the ae of 68.

He had been a resident of the Puxico area all his life. He and his wife Judy own Bill's Market in Puxico. He was a former owner of Richard's Service Station and other markets in the Puxico area. He was a member of the Puxico Masonic Lodge #596 A.F. & A.M. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Surviving are his wife Judy Richard of Puxico; two sons, David Richard of Ballwin and Danny Richard of Fenton; one step-son, Randy Williams of Arnold; one grandson; three granddaughters; two brothers, Jerry Richard of Wappapello and Gary Richard of Poplar Bluff.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, twins John L. and Clide Richard and Arvel Dean Richard.

Visitation was held after 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Puxico with Masonic services held at 7 p.m.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico with the Rev. John Buttry of Puxico officiating.

Interment followed in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Puxico with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Puxico in charge of arrangements.

The family has requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Foundation.
