Clarence H. Sitz

Clarence H. Sitz, the son of the late James and Grace Land Sitz, was born in Essex on Nov. 1, 1907, and died at the Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, at the age of 97.

He had lived in Michigan from 1926 until 1955 when he returned to Essex where he farmed for many years.

On Jan. 23, 1932, he was married to Delphia "Dorothy" L. Sawyer. She preceded him in death on Sept.14, 2000.

Surviving are one daughter, Nancy Wood of Dexter; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Irene Hooks of Poplar Bluff and Ilene Warren of Birmingham, Mich.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Lynn Sitz on Feb. 11, 1992; one son, Kenneth Sitz on April 18, 2003; six brothers, Bert, Lorance, Orval, DeWayne, Ernest and Eugene Sitz.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Doyle Corlew of Dexter officiating.

Interment will follow in the Essex Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
