Naomi Hill

Naomi Hill, daughter of the late John Oliver Alsup and Altha Kelley Alsup, was born May 14, 1918, near Essex and died in the Cypress Point Healthcare in Dexter on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2005, at the age of 87.

Mrs. Hill was a member of the St. Joe General Baptist Church at Idalia, a homemaker and a resident of Bloomfield.

She was united in marriage to James L. (Jim) Hill on April 26, 1941. Mr. Hill preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2000.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ernie and Sylvia Hill, John and Susan Hill, all of Dexter; one sister, Vivian Mayo Smith of Bloomfield; eight grandchildren, Bruce Hill, Chris Hillis, Bryce Hill, Beth Poyner, Jeremy Hill, Sarah Welch, Kelly Duggan and Laura Stone; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Ada Bolin Alsup who raised her; her daughter, Patricia Elaine Hill; one brother, Ernest Alsup; and one sister, Elma Hisaw.

Visitation was held from 5-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dan Sitze officiating.

Interment followed in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
