Lola Mae Bagby
Lola Mae Bagby, daughter of the late Oscar William and Lena Mae Walker Pippins, was born in Townley on Oct. 17, 1907, and died at the Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston on Monday, Oct. 10, 2005, at the age of 97.

A short time after her husband's death in 1951, Lola moved to Elgin, Ill., working at the Ducane Factory until retirement at age 65. She continued to live there near her relatives for several years, then moved to Florida with a granddaughter. One of her daughters (Gloria), also lived there. The last few years before her death her children had the privilege of sharing more intimately in her life through extended visits between the four. Lola will be remembered and loved by all who knew her for her courage to tackle what life dealt her without complaining. She had a serving and giving heart. Accepting Jesus as her Savior and obeying in submission to baptism in her youth, she remained faithful till the end. She met with the "Church of Christ" fellowship wherever she lived. She will be missed and her memory treasured.

On Jan. 26, 1926, she was married to Ernest W. Bagby in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death in February 1951.

Surviving are one son, Charles Bagby of Sikeston; three daughters, Peggy Shackelford of Exeter, Calif., Gloria Coleman of Bushnell, Fla., and Connie Freund of Warsaw; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mable Stacy of St. Louis.

She was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at the Watkins & Sons Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Bro. Pat Hogan of Sikeston officiating.

Interment will follow in the Park Cemetery in Malden with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
