MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- William "Bill" F. Durham, 70, formerly of Bernie, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at his son's residence in Murphysboro, Ill.
Mr. Durham was born June 2, 1935, in Bernie to John Randolph Durham and Nora Victoria (Ogelvie) Durham. He had worked at Geneva Kitchens as a cabinet maker. Then, he was city sexton and worked for the City of Murphysboro Street Department. He also had his own business in which he was a gravedigger for many years.
On Jan. 26, 1961, he married Bonnie McLaughlin in Murphysboro and she preceded him in death Aug. 22, 2003.
Survivors include four children, William "Bill" Durham Jr. of Murphysboro and Debbie Wren, Patty Edwards and William Rick Durham, all of Arkansas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Durham of California; and two sisters, Jean Conder and Anice Cox, both of Peoria, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Junior Durham; one sister, Beverly Ann Durham; and one sister in infancy.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today, Sunday, Oct. 16, and at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Pettett Funeral Home in Murphysboro. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 17, at the Pettett Funeral Home with the Rev. Darrell Neatherly officiating. Burial will be in the Tower Grove Cemetery.
