Oniece Embrey Watkins

Oniece Embrey Watkins, daughter of the late Carroll Embrey and Coillee Lena Johnson Embrey, was born June 18, 1924, at Bernie and died in Malden on Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, at the age of 81.

Mrs. Watkins was a lifelong resident of Bernie, had run a daycare for children out of her home for years, a homemaker, and a member of the Bernie Alliance Church.

She was united in marriage to Lindell Watkins on Sept. 24, 1941, at Malden. He preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1999.

Survivors include four sons, Robert Wayne Watkins of California, Md., Ronald Watkins of North Carolina, Roy Watkins of Sikeston, and Glendell Ray Watkins of Bernie; two daughters, Barbara Sue Hover of Harviell and Linda Fay Davis of Haleyville, Ala.; one brother, Arvil Embrey; one sister, Barbara Jean Smith of Rolla; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granchild.

She was preceded in death other than by her parents and her husband by one daughter, Shirley Wolters; two brothers, Winfred Embrey and Lester Embrey; and four sisters, onieda Juedeman, Lela Mae Brown, Ines Medlin and Cora Lee Embrey.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, 2005, in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel with Rev. Cletus Patterson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Bernie Cemetery.
