He had lived in Bernie most of his life and graduated from Bernie High School in 1964. He had been employed as a barbecue cook at 225 Package in Dexter and was of the Assembly of God faith. Shannon was an award winning fisherman receiving 40 trophies from the Bootheel Crappie Club. He also won two awards car racing at the Malden Dragstrip and was awarded five state champion awards for table tennis from the Piggott, Arkansas Jaycees.
Surviving are two sisters, Yvonne Hampton of Malden and Trellis Warmack of Ashland, Ky.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Graydon, Lindel and Sharron Howell.
Visitation was held after 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, in the Watkins & Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Ivan Mekan of Bernie and the Rev. Floyd Pyle of Moscow Mills officiating.
Interment followed in the Bernie Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
